
Reformer Pilates is a dynamic and highly effective form of Pilates that uses a piece of equipment called a reformer. Originally designed by Joseph Pilates, the reformer is a bed-like frame with a sliding platform (called a carriage), adjustable springs for resistance, pulleys, and straps. These components work together to support the body while adding resistance, which helps create a stronger, more stable, and more flexible body.
Unlike mat-based Pilates, where exercises are performed using body weight on the floor, Reformer Pilates allows for a much broader range of movement. The springs can be adjusted to make exercises more gentle or more challenging, making it suitable for all levels—from complete beginners to advanced movers and athletes.




How It Works
During a session, you’ll lie, sit, kneel, or stand on the carriage while performing a series of controlled movements that challenge your core, strengthen your muscles, and improve alignment.
The springs create resistance, which engages your muscles more deeply while also supporting your joints and helping you move with precision.
The reformer helps teach proper technique by offering feedback to the body—if you’re not aligned or engaging correctly, you’ll often feel it right away. This awareness leads to improved posture, balance, and movement patterns both in and out of class.
